My 2025 started with a trip to the ROSEBOWL PARADE with Billie Jean & Ilana. We arrived a couple of days early to enjoy the stately grounds of the Langham Hotel in Pasadena. Billie Jean was to be the Grand Marshall and invited several of her friends (“The Great 8” the Cruisers) and others to join her parade and that we did. We celebrated New Year’s Eve with a beautiful 5 star dinner and worked hard to stay awake. At our age we aren’t thinking of partying and dancing all night and midnight came early for some of us.

The 5am curtain call on New Year’s Day came in even earlier as we materialized in the lobby with coffee and donuts. We were given a police escort to one of the mansions for breakfast and a quick look at the floats before the parade. I jokingly say, that the closest I came to a police escort was when I was pulled over for a traffic ticket!

After breakfast the entourage was escorted to our parade seats strategically placed so we could see all the floats, marching bands and entertainment. BJK came riding in a 1937 Phantom III Aqua Blue Rolls that unfortunately stopped short of the end of the parade and they were forced to walk to the finish. Good exercise!

There is nothing like having good friends to bring in the new year and that we did by starting the morning with breakfast, playing tennis, talking, listening, snoozing and doing what well do best EAT!! Most importantly it was a time to enjoy friends and to reflect on our past with memories and places shared together over the years. It was a wonderful and memorable ROSEBOWL PARADE celebration!

REESE TENNIS COURT PROJECT:

We need your help on this worth-while cause. Reese has devoted her time and energy to getting funds to restore these courts in an underserved area of Whitewater and needs your help to complete this project.

I first met Reese in San Diego in 2019 with Billie Jean at the Billie Jean King 16 &18 Nationals where she won the 16 Nationals. We both felt and still feel she is destined to be a bright star on the women’s tour.

Reese Brantmeier is a Native of Whitewater, Wisconsin and currently a junior at UNC-Chapel Hill studying Exercise & Sports Science & Studio Art. She is a wonderful artist and tennis player who is just coming back from an ACL repair. She has a WTA ranking of 411 and plans to improve that ranking when she turns pro after she graduates.

Tory and I are looking forward to a healthy and prosperous year and hope the same for all of you especially with your tennis game. Remember to play tennis as it adds 9 years to your life!

HAPPY 2025

ROSIE & TORY
