I’m back from our Caribbean cruise and what fun it was cruising the open seas and eating ourselves silly with our wonderful cruising friends. I hope all of you enjoyed your Holidays and some have made New Year’s “Resolutions”..I say “good luck” with that because mine are generally out the window by day 2!!
I do want to mention that 2023 was a very special year for me and many of the Original 9, WTA Founders and members and those who witnessed a once in a life time “The Battle of The Sexes” between King & Riggs at the Houston Astrodome.
I don’t have another 50 years to celebrate the next one but this one meant all of what made the 50 years so special….the success of women’s tennis and equal prize money.
I also want to thank WTA, Australian Open, Wimbledon & US Open for making us a part of the festivities.
ANNALEE THURSTON AWARD RECEPTION DINNER
OK…we are moving forward with The Annalee Thurston Awards Reception Dinner, Saturday, March 9, 2024 at The Palm Desert C.C. We are very excited to be honoring a “One of a Kind” and someone who definitely makes an impression on and off the camera our Hall of Famer and entertaining MC, Pam Shriver! We also hope to have Martina Navratilova join us as last year’s recipient and as Shriver’s multi Grand Slam doubles partner. Together they won everything under the sun and having played them many times throughout our careers, they were an incredible all time team!! All their titles would fill these pages so I will save it for the program. I will attach the Registrations and sponsorship information with this newsletter.
ROSIE CUP ROUND ROBIN DOUBLES:
The Rosie Cup Round Robin Doubles Tournament Registration, Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Indian Ridge C.C. All levels welcome and if you don’t have a partner we will find one for you. The “Equalizer” will be points given to teams in order to even up the skill levels in order to be competitive. Last year we had a great level of tennis and I hope to have the same this year.
