Happy Father’s Day and 4th of July

Happy Father’s Day and 4th of July

Well tennis fans…weren’t we treated to two weeks of incredible tennis at the French Open starting with the “Nadal Farewell Ceremony” and ending with Coco Gauff slaying the “Tiger” Sabalenka….and the men’s finals with Alcaraz and Sinner holding us spellbound. It put an exclamation mark on the 2 weeks of the FO. It gave us excitement, drama, jaw dropping tennis. I agree with Chris Evert, there were two Champions that I hope will bring us more suspense and thrilling tennis as their rivalry grows throughout their years!

To Coco a congratulations for her incredible efforts to remain in the game even if her forehands and serves erred. She believed in herself and knew she could battle through all this and come out victorious and did. Sabalenka, powerful and imposing needs to know when to dial it back and
find a level of consistancy or compromise…but that’s not who she is and that’s why she’s so much fun to watch because she is “All or Nothing”!

I’m going to Wimbledon and I’m always excited about that.
1966, I was 18, my first Wimbledon and I was as green as the grass. Wimbledon has always been and the Cathedral of tennis… it was for me and always will be!

The desert (Palm Springs) has finally gotten to be summer with it’s 105 heat keeping us inside with the AC full blast.

We are continuing our Saturday morning tennis clinics at Fritz Burns Park in LA Quinta from 8:30am – 9:45am.

We’ve had a good group of kids who have stuck with us for the last year.

The Love & Love Tennis Foundation also sponsored Desert Hot Springs & Indio High Schools who hosted kids clinics from April to June.

I would like to thank the coaches & their tennis team:

  • Allen Stecker (DSH)
  • Miguel Nolasco (Indio)

…for their help in spreading tennis in their community!

Due to the heat and kids taking off for vacation we will run the first two weeks in July starting at 8:30am-9:45am at Fitz Burns Park in LQ. We will take a break til mid September and start again.

Any questions or info email me at: Sportswomn@aol.com
Don’t leave any messages on my phone!

Parents are always welcome to join the clinic and I want to thank all the parents who have been so attentive in helping my staff.

I also want to thank our wonderful and reliable staff of volunteers beginning with:

  • the food & drink service Connie Spooner
  • on-court volunteers Lynora Miller, Brian Duffy, Trinity Miller, Tracy Woodward, Mindy Sorenson
  • and others who have been kind with their time

I want to also wish you a HAPPY FATHER’S DAY.
Enjoy your special day and for those who have lost their dads……there’s no reason we can’t celebrate them with our joyful memories of time together.

Since I will be celebrating July 4 at Wimbledon have a happy 4th of July as well!

Have a great summer and more news to come!!
