I hope you all had a Super Cinco de Mayo and had lots of Margaritas and Chavela (Mexican beer cocktail, spiced tomato mix with rimmed glass of Tajin) which I love. We had a wonderful dinner and celebration at our favorite restaurant Pueblo Grill with all
our friends. I hope you did as well.

May is National Tennis Month and I hope everyone is out there playing and getting some exercise. On behalf of the Latin American Tennis Foundation I was part of the festivities in San Diego on Sunday, May 4 at the Balboa Tennis Club in Moreley Field. We were fortunate that the rain stayed away long enough to dry the courts in time for our afternoon session. We had about 400 people out there and probably would have had more if it wasn’t for the rain.

I remember playing World TeamTennis there and a Virginia Slims Tournament back in the 1970s when open tennis was young and so were we. The atmosphere at Balboa is that of a public park, similar to where I grew up playing tennis at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. We had a variety of characters, different strokes for different folks and everything in between. Really a great tennis place!
