I’m back after 10 wonderful days in Melbourne, Australia at the AO. The trip was long but comfortable and although it was summer it wasn’t exceptionally hot or cold just in between! The hospitality was exceptional and the Original 9 gathered for several functions organized to highlight our presence and the festivities of the tournament. We all shared in the attention and were praised for our
esteemed accomplishments. We took a lot of pictures with the 09 and some of our sightseeing adventures. We also watched the women’s & men’s finals in addition to getting a little tennis in at Kooyong on grass. I don’t know how we were so good on it….i guess we were young and able to move around better than now. We also snuck a hit on the tournament courts at Melbourne Park way way in the outback!
Now reality and back to work. The Annalee Thurston Awards has started it’s countdown and tables are slowly filling up, plans coming together and BNP is right around the corner.
We’ve got a few entries into the Inaugural Rosie Cup and know that those who are playing will surly have a good time! Remember it’s to raise money for junior tennis in the valley so bring your family and friends!!
The update on Martina is that although she’s experienced some rough moments she’s determined to stay the course and beat this unworthy opponent. We are hopeful that she will be well enough to attend and receive The Annalee Thurston Award.
We are all thinking of you Martina!
We will also take the opportunity to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of WTA that took place June 21, at the Gloucester Hotel the eve before the start of Wimbledon.
